Our Mission
”Masterpieces are not single and solitary births; they are the outcome of many years of thinking in common, of thinking by the body of the people so that the experience of the mass is behind the single voice”
-Virginia Woolf
Great art and great artists do not spring up in isolation. They are both a result, and an expression of, the culture in which they live. All art is built upon what has come before. To create art and to understand it requires shared experiences, ideas, feelings, language and thought. When we create an environment that fosters these sensations we stimulate our children to build upon and carry forward our culture into the future. The Conservatory is committed to helping provide a shared cultural background and experience for both children and adults, and to promoting the cultivation of a community that both creates and cherishes great art. Classical music, like any art form, is an acquired taste, best developed at a very young age. Most classical musicians, like dancers, begin honing their skills around the same time they begin to read. The Ohio Conservatory intends to encourage and nurture and teach those children who aspire to play an instrument. Even though some of our young students may eventually become great classical musicians, this school does not aim to train only the select few. Rather, we resolve to foster an excitement in all children for all great music.
